Important – Bill of Lading instructions deadline
From the 1st January 2021 new customs rules apply meaning that Shipping Lines require full cargo details 24 hours before the vessel ARRIVES at the UK Port of Loading. Consequently we are required to provide them with Shipping Instructions (also known as Bill of Lading instructions) before this deadline. Shipper MUST therefore supply this information to us in good time.
Recently we have had a number of cases where containers have not been loaded on the booked vessel and extra charges have been incurred. In these circumstances we have no choice but to past these extra costs on to the booking party.
What you need to provide and when
24 hours before the vessel ARRIVES at the Port of Load we are required to send your FULL shipping instructions to the shipping line. This information must include the following details: Shipper, Consignee, Notify (if any), cargo description, quantity of packages, cargo weight and other relevant information.
Late instructions (after cut off) mean that cargo is at risk of not being shipped and additional charges.
