Shipments to Nigeria – Regulation Change

Shipments to Nigeria – Regulation Change

We would like to inform you that, Effective January 1, 2018 (B/L Date), it will become mandatory for all inbound cargo destined to Nigeria to be palletized.

Exceptions to this rule:

-Any single item weighing more than 1000 kg

-Any item that can be “rolled” out of the container …. e.g. a car

-If the goods are loaded in such a way as to allow a person to walk around items and inspect the goods.

-Any item that is deemed to be too fragile and not suitable for off-loading without using specialised equipment.

Failing to adhere to the regulations may result in fines being issued by the authorities in Nigeria to the receivers, or refusal to accept cargo on to Nigerian soil.

In such cases, and as all units are stuffed under SHIPPER’S LOAD, STOW AND COUNT, any additional charges will be for the account of the cargo, including the repatriation of cargo to origin.
